Gene Sunkyong Park – B6

B6

Designer: Gene Sunkyong Park
Location: St. Marks / Crescent Hotel, Los Angles, California
Type: New Construction
Number of Units: N/A
Major: Interior Design

Project Description:

Light is the most important element in the buildings where we live, and for designers when we design for living. The building, B6, for this site is designed to respond to two different sides; on one side the wall is light/open/window the other dark/close/circulation. These two sides are located on opposite sides to support light coming into the building and control all the other functions and programs.

B6 is designed with curved lines – to increase the light accessibility and provide for more units along the curvature. The space at the end of the curve increases to number of units and also provides for a larger unit. On the top floor, loft units offer other special spaces for residents. There was also a desire to reduce thr space for circulation as much as possible and give more space to open and void areas to collect the light for the units and also to bring into the courtyard.
